About The Texas Probate Mailing List

Glenn Karisch, owner of this site, also sponsors an email mailing list focusing on matters of interest to Texas attorneys practicing in the estate planning, probate, trust and elder law areas.  Subscribers can send messages to one email address, and all other subscribers get the message.  This is a good way to ask the 1,400 or so subscribers questions about difficult topics, as well as a way to keep up with current events.

List Archives

There are two list archives -- an automated one maintained by the list serve software (http://list.texasprobate.net/mailman/private/probate/) and a manually maintained one (http://texasprobate.com/texas-probate-mailing-list/). 

Monthly Automated Archives. The automated archives (http://list.texasprobate.net/mailman/private/probate/) go back to 2003 and are organized monthly.  Only subscribers to the email mailing list may access these archives.  Because the posts are saved monthly, the archives must be searched on a month-to-month basis.  The list serve program assigns each mailing list subscriber a password when he or she subscribes and sends each subscriber a reminder each month.  

2011 - 2013 Archives. To make it possible to search across months and years at a time, in 2011 the site owner started manually adding each email to a web blog, (http://texasprobate.com/texas-probate-mailing-list/).   However, this consumed too much staff time, so the site owner stopped doing this at the end of 2013.  Therefore, there are three years' worth of postings which may be searched by key word.  To keep the list messages accessible only by lawyers and others with legitimate interests, private membership on texasprobate.com is required.  Apply for professional membership by completing and submitting this form.  At this time, the only benefit of private membership is access to the 2011 - 2013 list postings.

Unfortunately, the user id and password for private membership are not coordinated with the user id and password for the email list, so each list subscriber and private member has two separate user ids and passwords.
